The 11th International Symposium on Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering will be held in Salt Lake City, the gateway to Utah’s many outdoor adventures. Early April is a great time to visit Utah because the weather in both northern and southern Utah is often quite pleasant and conducive to outdoor activities. Temperatures in Salt Lake City are often in the 60s and 70s, while temperatures in southern Utah are often in the 70s and lower 80s. The temperatures in the mountains and ski resorts just east of Salt Lake City are usually relatively cool and good for skiing, varying from the high 20s Fahrenheit to the mid-50s. Additional information about Utah’s weather can be found here:
Early April is also a great time to visit Salt Lake City because all of its outdoor activities are usually accessible this time of year. The 9 ski resorts in the Wasatch Mountains east of Salt Lake City will still be open and so will most of the golf courses in the Salt Lake valley and southern Utah. Additionally, there will be trails available for hiking and biking, streams and rivers ready to be fished, and boulders and cliffs accessible for rock climbing, all within an hour’s drive of the Salt Lake City Marriot. More information about the ski resorts and other outdoor activities in the greater Salt Lake City area can be found at these websites:
If you can add time to your stay before or after the conference, all of southern Utah’s national and state parks are within a 5 hour’s drive from Salt Lake City. This includes Arches and Canyonlands in the Moab area and Zion and Bryce in southwestern Utah. More information about Utah’s national parks can be found at these websites:
Although Salt Lake City is known for its outdoor activities it also has many museums, theatres, and shops as well as fabulous restaurants and clubs. Many of these are walking distance or a short cab ride from the Marriot. For additional information about Salt Lake City attractions see these websites:
We hope you get a chance to visit some of Utah’s wonderful attractions while visiting for the CMBBE 2013 conference.
